Before joining Barnes, Richardson & Colburn, Meaghan specialized in international trade and customs law matters at another Chicago area firm. She also completed an internship with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Associate Chief Counsel.Meaghan is a member of the Illinois bar and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade. Meaghan is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, where she is the former vice-chair of the Customs & US International Trade Law Committee and where she is also a member of the YLS International Corporate & Trade Law Committee and the International & Foreign Law Committee. She is the President of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) and a member of the Customs & International Trade Bar Association (CITBA).

Meaghan advocates for clients in Customs and Border Protection’s administrative processes including ruling requests, protests, prior disclosures, perfections, seizures, and penalty mitigation. She also counsels importers on tariff classification, valuation of merchandise, and the applicability of antidumping and countervailing duties. Meaghan is able to guide clients through country of origin marking and rules of origin, including the application of these rules to trade agreements and preference programs. She also prepares manuals and training seminars for clients seeking assistance with internal compliance programs.
